The
La Viña Wilderness Area consists of 108 undeveloped
acres owned exclusively by La Viña homeowners and for
the private use of La Viña residents.
The most convenient access to La Viña Wilderness Area
is the park on Old Toll Road from where it descends into Millard
Canyon
Under no circumstances should there be any fires, fireworks,
or smoking on the trail or elsewhere in La Viña Wilderness
Area. Also prohibited are alcohol, drugs, and weapons including
bows, BB guns, paintball guns and slingshots. No motor vehicles
(electric or gasoline) or bicycles are permitted in HOA Wilderness
Area. Hunting is strictly prohibited. Do not kill, injure,
or capture any wildlife (including snakes) in La Viña
Wilderness Area. The only exception is that injured or orphaned
animals may be transported to appropriate shelters or refuges.
Appropriate activities include hiking, photography, and picnicking.
You must pack out all of your trash – no exceptions.
Hazards exist in our Wilderness Area. Rattlesnakes may be
encountered year-round. Walk around any snake you see. Do
not kill any animal. Mountain lions may be encountered infrequently.
Lions are a serious threat to unaccompanied children, and
they can harm adults who crouch or run away. If you see a
lion wave your arms, shout, make eye contact and hold your
ground. Have your children hold onto you (but do not crouch
to pick then up). Coyotes, owls, bobcats, rattlesnakes, lions,
and foxes are threats to pets. Other dangers on the trail
include falls and the possibility of ankle injuries at creek
crossings. Poison oak is common but eradication near the trail
has been successful.
We hope you enjoy the Wilderness Area in a responsible manner.
